Using and setting the
options under automatic maintenance helps keep
your ListManager™ running smoothly. The settings
under automatic maintenance can also determine
how long to keep inactive members and archives.
Error Mail
ListManager™ by default will handle all error
mail. For your list to function properly, the
error mail settings must be correct.
The setting under the “Error Mail” tab
determines whether members who bounce a great
deal of mail have their membership automatically
"held" by ListManager™, so it does not continue
to send them mail.
For the box "Redirect All Bounces to Email
Address" ListManager™ handles all bounced mail
for you, if you leave the box blank. If you do
not want ListManager™ to handle your bounce
mail, you need to specify an email address to
where all error mail should go.
For the box "Notifying Users of Their Held
Status" you can have ListManager™ send a
notification message to people on hold to give
them the option of having the hold status
removed.

Purging Inactive Members
The setting "Purging Inactive Members"
determines how frequently inactive members are
purged from your ListManager™ database. By
default, the settings are set to "never purge".
You have the option to change these settings.
Purge Held - determines how long someone
has had their membership placed on "hold".
Purge Unconfirmed - determines how long
someone who has asked to subscribe to the
mailing list, but never "confirmed" their
membership.
Purge Unapproved - determines how long
someone who has applied for membership but not
been approved by an administrator.
Purge Expired - determines how long
someone who has had their membership expire
should remain until they are permanently erased
from the system.
Purge Unsubscribed - determines how long
an unsubscribed member should remain in the
database before they are permanently deleted.
Remove Old Referred Members - determines
how long referred members are saved before being
purged. Removing referred members does not
prevent them from joining your list later.

Purging Archives
Saving a message in the archives allows it to be
read at a later date by you or your subscribers.
By default, your list is set to 0 (zero), to
keep archives indefinitely. If you set the list
to not keep archives, no archives will ever be
saved.
Keep How Many Messages Archived -
determines how many messages from the list will
be saved in the archives. For example, a setting
of 30 means that the previous 30 messages will
be saved in the archives. Any messages beyond
the most recent 30 messages would be
automatically removed.
Keep Mailing and Clickthrough Data for How
Many Days - determines how long outgoing
mailings are saved. Any clickthrough data is
only available for saved mailings. When choosing
a setting, you should consider how far back you
plan on targeting mailings based on receipt of
previous mailings or on clicks and opens.
